I respect Jamson for his commitment to lead by good example. He walks his talk.

Kat decided to have a career switch after she went on a 1-year sabbatical leave. After which, she knew she was going to quit the corporate world and be her own paymaster by setting up her own business. She drained most of her disposable savings during the 1 year work-break but decided it is a good investment to pursue her personal goals. A Food & Beverage franchising business was an option Kat explored as it was the in thing then. However, she dropped the idea when she learnt of the high start-up costs & the fact that a retail business is always at the mercy of the landlord unless you have the bargaining power of the chain stores.

All this while, Kat is in regular contact with her financial consultant Jamson Chia. Unlike some of her peers who think their financial consultant is a “nuisance”, Kat enjoys her catching-up sessions with Jamson. They first met when Jamson was still an NUS undergraduate and he was working seasonally in the MNC that Kat was in. When Kat’s then-financial consultant left the industry, Jamson took over the servicing of Kat’s account and gradually became her family friend.

Coming from a middle income family, Kat realized the importance of life insurance only after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 42. Being the eldest daughter, she accompanied her mum on multiple visits to National Cancer Centre for treatments and consultations. Also, she had to learn to take charge of the family finances (especially in medical costs budgeting) as both of her parents are Chinese-educated. Upon reviewing her mum’s insurance policies, Kat wished her previous financial consultant had done a better job than selling her mum a pure endownment policy. Kat read that “Wealth, Children and Health” are the 3 things everybody in this world is concerned with. Incidentally, life insurance protects these three important concerns and so it is something that has natural demand.

From her personal experience, Kat is well aware and firmly believes that life insurance will be the key component in her financial portfolio. Furthermore, Kat’s team leader, Jamson Chia, has shown her a business model that is very much in line with her personal goals of helping others and having the the opportunity of drawing a passive income.
